HRA Announces 2026 Annual Members Meeting

All the information a reader would need to attend an event is contained in the article “HRA Announces 2026 Annual Members Meeting” such as the date and location of the meeting and who to contact for more information. However, that information must be read within the context of the everyday work of the Hawaii Rifle Association, which is educational and community-based. The Hawaii Rifle Association strives to inform the membership of the various aspects of firearm ownership and how to shoot safely as well as to support other clubs and shooting sports and other activities that promote responsible gun ownership throughout the islands.

First, we want to make sure our readers have the time to understand what actions they need to take. When information reaches our readers in the form of a notice or meeting announcement, we want them to have time to figure out the information needed to safely participate in the activities of their club or other firearms related activities. We don’t want to add complexity to responsible activities of the Association.

Hawaii also asks us to think about the distance of the location to you and the local circumstances that may impact how you are to carry out a plan or service offered by your club or association. The plan or service need not be lowered but rather it can be explained clearly and members accommodated to meet the higher standards in realistic ways.

Read the notice as a starting point

This work can form the basis for an informative article of about 200 words or less for members covering what is changing and when it matters, as well as what action members can take in the period following the announcement. These could be announcements for meetings, club activities and a variety of other issues within the Association. They can form the basis for a short article to keep members informed of activities throughout the year.

Keep the islands connected

Information is kept flowing to members from across the different islands by written notes and follow-up messages and by having club reps to act as contacts. The goal is to make a single announcement as members’ useful work in service of the organization over time, not a last minute impulse.

Turn information into participation

Making the responsible choice easy is the goal of the work that the association does. If members are to participate safely and responsibly at times, they need to have clear guidance on what actions to take and how to proceed. Work that supports members in these actions is the work of the Hawaii Rifle Association.

A short checklist for members

  • Verify date, location and other information before distributing.
  • Ask one specific question when a detail is unclear.
  • Be aware of issues relating to safety, reasonable behavior and local issues and take an appropriate stance.
  • Write down what you learned so another member can use your notes to get up to speed.
  • Follow up with the club, committee, or association contact when an action is requested.

Closing note

The smallest actions are good for an association. Perhaps most important are good briefings and good notes of what was said at a meeting. Moreover, good introductions to other members are so important, and this is perhaps the biggest service of all. In short, trust is built slowly by the member’s actions over time, and the worst thing that can happen is that he fails to act at all.

What this article adds

Association notices can be read by the member as to what action the member can take. This article looked at “HRA Announces 2026 Annual Members Meeting” through the everyday work of the Hawaii Rifle Association, an educational, community-oriented, non-profit organization. All information that the reader needs to know as to how to attend and as to how to get involved in the work of the association was included in this article so that the member could read this in addition to club information, current notices, etc.

Join fellow shooters and volunteers from across the islands for the Hawaii Rifle Association’s 2026 Annual Members Meeting to review the past year of activity by the association, learn about current activities by safety programs, and hear reports from affiliated shooting sports clubs. Their legislative priorities for the next session of Hawaii’s state legislature will also be discussed. Members and volunteers will have opportunity to ask members and volunteers related questions at the end of the meeting. In order to best facilitate members and volunteers from Affiliated Clubs on Maui, Hawaii Island and Kauai, we encourage their attendance at the meeting; however, members and volunteers from these clubs will be advised of the meeting’s outcome in written form shortly thereafter. HRA needs volunteers to assist with safety instruction at shoots, to coordinate between clubs and members and to assist with communications. Those willing to assist with these functions should contact the association via the information line or by using the contact form found on this website.
